Spring’s New Beginnings

Spring has sprung! Many flowers have popped up and are in full bloom, and many trees are becoming green. Spring is often a time of new beginnings, which has been true for all of us here at Focus on Nature!

In the past month we began some new beginnings with some new workshop instructors and a new administrative assistant, who all fit perfectly into the Focus on Nature community. Our team is filled with wonderful individuals who are passionate about inspiring children in photography. Check out our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages to see a full list of our new team members!

With the spring season comes beautiful spring photography! Many of our young photographers who take part in our workshops have learned about the elements of design and have applied those elements to their photo taking. We are seeing many flower photos which encapsulate the feeling of spring as a fresh start. Various colours both vibrant and calm are being shown in their flower pictures.

On the other hand, rain has been prevalent in the weather forecast as of late, which has allowed for numerous photographs utilizing the various effects rain and water can have while photographing. In the editing portion of the workshops, the students are given the opportunity to edit their photos and play around with the colours and effects. Arguably, spring photography is one of the most fascinating to capture as a young photographer.

This season is a great time to introduce and teach children about photography as nature and the natural environment are flourishing, which provides countless elements for the children to capture on their cameras. The weather is warm, the sun is shining and the children feel excited to go outside and interact with all that spring has to offer, whether that be flowers, streams, budding trees or even insects.
