Waterloo March Break Camps

We hope that health protocols will allow camps in 2021. Please write to natalie(at)focusonnature.ca to indicate your interest in being notified of Focus on Nature camps in the coming year.

Our camps are a great opportunity for young photographers aged 8 to 16 to develop their skills while exploring all the natural beauty that RIM Park has to offer.  As well as being outdoors each day on guided walks, playing outdoor games and other nature activities, campers will have the chance to edit their images, make a slideshow, and take home some of their best photos.

We encourage the students to be visual artists, to see the beauty in the details of nature and learn how to capture it with their cameras.  The planned activities include short lessons about visual design and camera controls; guided photo field excursions around the area; a photo-scavenger hunt and building nature sculptures. We’ll learn how to edit photos and make slideshows using the program called Picasa. We plan to end the final day with a group slideshow to which the parents will be invited.

The camp runs from 8 am to 5 pm each day. Campers should bring their own drinks, snacks and a lunch each day, and be dressed for the weather. Cameras and laptops will be provided, though campers may bring their own. More information (directions, etc.) will be sent to you one week before camp.

Space is limited, so if you are interested in enrolling your child or have any further questions, please register now or contact me by email at natalie@focusonnature.ca.  And if you know of others who might be interested in our Waterloo Region March Break Camp, please pass this on.
