We are pleased to offer March Break camp opportunities (March 14-18) at the Guelph Arboretum in 2022! For added flexibility, the week is divided into two mini-camps (Monday-Tuesday and Wednesday-Thursday) plus a Friday Advanced Photography Workshop for children who have already attended a previous camp or school workshop. Summer camp opportunities are also now open for registration.
All Covid-19 health protocols mandated at the time of the camp will be strictly followed. These may include mask-wearing, social-distancing, regular hand washing and sanitization of all equipment and surfaces each day
Our camps are a great opportunity for students, aged 7 to 14, to develop their photography skills while exploring all the natural beauty that the University of Guelph’s Arboretum has to offer. We encourage the young photographers to be visual artists, to see the beauty in the details of nature and learn how to capture it with their cameras.
The planned activities include short lessons about visual design and basic camera controls; guided photo field excursions around the Arboretum; and time to edit photos and make slideshows.
Our Advanced Photography Workshop will give participants additional technical skills and guided practical experience that will further enhance their abilities as young photographers.
The fee for a 2-day camp is $110. The Advanced Photography Workshop fee is $55. Each day runs from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Extended hours for early drop-off and late pick-up can be arranged. Please use our online registration form to register your child. For more than one child, please repeat the registration submission.
Payment should be made by Interac transfer to payments(at)focusonnature.ca (use ‘photos’ as password). Registration will not be confirmed until payment has been received. We will refund fees in full up to 30 days before camp starts. After that, we can still refund if we have a camper on a waiting list.
Campers should bring their own drinks, snacks and a lunch each day, and be dressed for the weather. Cameras and laptops will be provided but campers may bring their own as well. (No phones, tablets or chromebooks, please!)
As space is limited, I encourage you to register as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please email Maya Ewert: maya(at)focusonnature.ca
And if you know of others who might be interested in our March Break Camps, please pass this on.
