Share your love of art and photography, nature and the outdoors with students in our school program!
Note: to register for the next Volunteer Training Session or to attend a workshop as a shadow volunteer, please read this page and click ‘Yes, I’d like to Volunteer!’

Focus on Nature delivers full-day workshops in schools, principally to grades 4, 5 and 6 classes. As a volunteer program assistant you will be part of a team assisting the lead instructor to inspire the students to explore and appreciate the wonders of natural world around them with simple point-and-shoot cameras, and help them develop confidence in their own creative abilities. You can pick the workshops online that you wish to commit to. You don’t have to be a photographer to be a volunteer but an interest in the arts and nature would be assets in mentoring the students.

Focus on Nature has a great team of over 60 volunteers working as program assistants and instructors, board and committee members, collaborating together to make our program available to thousands of young people. All Program Assistants are provided training in program delivery and are required to have a Police Records Check completed. Training sessions are held twice a year. Our next one-day volunteer training will be April 14th, 2017.

People interested in volunteering with us are also welcome to come out to a school workshop as a ‘shadow’ volunteer. To learn more about what’s involved, please read our posting in the Volunteer Centre of Guelph Wellington database. Also, have a look at this video about volunteering with Focus on Nature.

If you, or someone you know, might be interested in applying to be a program volunteer,  or to support other aspects of our organization, please contact Simon Bell by email: <simon@focusonnature.ca>.
