Hello!
Focus on Nature will be holding four weeks of photography day camps at the Arboretum’s Taylor Nature Centre in 2020. The dates are July 13-17, July 20-24, August 10-14 and August 17-21. Registration is now open.

Our camps are a great opportunity for young photographers aged 8 to 14 to develop their skills while exploring all the natural beauty that the University of Guelph’s Arboretum has to offer.  As well as being outdoors each day on guided walks, playing outdoor games and other nature activities, campers will have the chance to edit their images, make a slideshow, and take home some of their best photos.

The camps run from 9:00am to 3:30 pm each day. The fee per camper is $275. Extended hours for drop-off and pick-up can be arranged. Please use our online form to register.

Payment should be made by Interac transfer to payments(at)focusonnature.ca with photos as the password, or by cheque to our address below.  Registration will not be confirmed until payment has been received. We can refund fees in full up to 30 days before camp starts. After that, we can still refund if we have a camper on a waiting list.

Cameras and laptops will be provided, though campers may bring their own. Campers should bring their own drinks, snacks and a lunch each day, and be dressed appropriately for the weather. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.

We encourage the campers to see the beauty in the details of nature and learn how to capture it with their cameras.  The planned activities include short lessons about visual design and camera controls, morning photo safaris around the Arboretum and different nature activities each afternoon, led by an Arboretum instructor. Each camper will have a laptop for photo editing and creating a slideshow. We end the final day with the campers’ presentations, to which all the parents are invited!

Space is limited to 24 campers for each camp, so if you are interested in enrolling your child or have any further questions, please register now or contact Taylor Bulstrode at taylor(at)focusonnature.ca.  And if you know of others who might be interested in our Summer Camps at the Arboretum, please spread the word!
